Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the influence of social media usage and the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) payment system on the income of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in a village in Jakarta.

Design/methodology/approach – This research uses a quantitative approach, collecting primary data through structured questionnaires sent via Google Forms to 40 MSME owners in Jakarta who use social media and QRIS. The data were analyzed with multiple linear regression using SPSS version 23, and hypotheses were tested with the t-test.

Findings – The results indicate that social media use has a significant positive effect on MSME income in a village in Jakarta. In contrast, the QRIS variable does not demonstrate a statistically significant individual effect on income. Nevertheless, when examined simultaneously (jointly), both social media usage and QRIS have a significant influence on MSME income in the studied area.

Originality/value – This study highlights the distinct impacts of digital marketing tools and payment infrastructures in a Jakarta urban village. It finds that while payment technology alone may not increase revenue, combining it with active social media marketing is vital to improving MSME financial performance.
